London bombings survivor to address THF luncheon

-

ONE fateful day in July 2005, Australian-born Gill Hicks miraculously survived one of the worst terrorist attacks on British soil.

Despite losing both her legs in the London bombings, she has become a strong advocate for peace, started her own notfor-profit, authored a book and is now bringing her inspiring story to this year’s Toowoomba Hospital Foundation’s Women of Strength Luncheon.

Her captivating, moving and heart-stopping tale of survival and forgiveness through tragedy and chaos is set to inspire audiences at Rumours in Toowoomba on Friday, June 21.

Toowoomba Hospital Foundation CEO Alison Kennedy said Gill’s story and resilience gave some beautiful insights into how precious our lives truly were.

“To have gone through something so terrifying and devastating and to come away with so much compassion, forgiveness and drive to give back is an incredible testament of strength — we couldn’t think of anyone more suited to be this year’s woman of strength,” she said.

“Gill is truly an inspiration and I have no doubt that she will leave a lasting impression on our Women of Strength guests. We’re very much looking forward to welcoming her to Toowoomba in June.

“This year, we’re proud to be raising funds for the Toowoomba Hospital Allied Health Rehabilitation Unit to help them upgrade their space with more purpose built equipment.”

2019 Women of Strength speaker Gill Hicks said she was looking forward to visiting Toowoomba in June.

Tickets are now on sale for the Toowoomba Hospital Foundation’s 2019 Women of Strength at: https://events.toowoombahospitalfoundation.org.au/events.
