$10,000 win on Scratch-It
The woman will use money for travel
AN OAKEY mum is planning a trip to America after she won $10,000 on a $1 Instant Scratch-Its ticket she received as a birthday present.
The winning $1 Treasure Chest Instant Scratch-Its ticket was purchased at the Oakey Newsagency recently.
“It was a birthday gift from my mother. I got a few Instant Scratch-Its from her and I was almost finished scratching them when I got to this ticket,” the woman said.
“My family said, ‘oh you could win $10,000 on this one’ and I said ‘don’t get excited, it won’t happen’.
“I had won about $12 on the tickets I’d already scratched and I was already so happy and then I got this ticket and saw I’d won $10,000 and I just thought ‘is this for real, no way, it can’t be.
“I made my mum check it a few times to see if it was real.”
The woman said her mum was so happy for her when she won.
“We were jumping up and down, screaming ‘oh my god, oh my god’,” she said.
“It’s the best birthday present I have ever received and it certainly stopped me from sooking about being old.”
The woman said she instantly knew what she was going to do with the $10,000.
“We are going to use it towards a trip to America,” she said.
“We want to go on a cruise, so this will certainly help.
“I also celebrated on the weekend with a few drinks with my mum. I was in the best mood and I still am.”
Oakey Newsagency owner Ken Pott said he was thrilled to have made one of his customers $10,000 richer.
“We feel really good about it,” he said.
“It’s wonderful to know we have helped make her $10,000 richer, especially on her birthday.
“We hope she enjoys her prize and we would love to congratulate her. We have sold some big prizes in the past but we were certainly due for another.
“We hope to sell some more big prizes to our customers and continue this winning streak.”
