Paix named in Broncos trial squad

-

RUGBY LEAGUE: The Brisbane Broncos have named a 23-man squad to take on Souths Logan Magpies in Saturday night’s Warwick trial match.

With a number of players boasting NRL experience, Toowoomba itself will have representation in Warwick’s first game of top-tier football.

Southern Suburbs junior Cory Paix has been named on an extended interchange bench, backing up his experience in last year’s trial against the Gold Coast in Toowoomba.

Saturday night will give Paix the chance to impress new coach Anthony Siebold in the club’s first hit-out of the year.

Heading the list of players with NRL experience named to play on Saturday is Payne Haas, the hulking front rower with Filipino heritage who made an immediate impact upon his first grade debut last year.

Outside back Richie Kennar will run out for Brisbane for the first time, after scoring seven tries in eight games for South Sydney in 2018, before backflipping on a Mormon mission to join the Queensland club.
