Tackling ag’s top issues
THERE are numerous major issues currently affecting the Australian grains industry that will potentially have long-lasting repercussions into the next generations of farmers, including the impact of climate change on our ability to produce sustainably.
The upcoming Australian Summer Grains Conference in July will address many of these issues and concerns through a robust program that covers associated topics from all aspects of our industry along with speakers from all segments, including farmers, scientists, marketers, end users and commercial genetics companies.
Always a highlight at the ASGC are the international and Australian farmer speakers, who address the big challenges and their solutions to sustainable farm profitability.
These include the increasing need for stress tolerances in genetics, strategic practices in dryland farming systems to obtain better water-use efficiency, the use of ag-tech on farm and its role in increasing profitability, and how world markets are influencing their decisions and the adjustments required to protect Australian grower sustainability and profitability.
New conference streams have been added to the program to cover the need for more skilled agricultural technicians to support the industry into the future and to discuss new evolving technologies.
A forum will attract students about to enter the industry and will feature industry representatives including former graduates who have gone on to build their careers in the industry, as well as commercial company speakers who offer on-the-job practical graduate agronomist/research programs.
We encourage entities with new technologies to showcase their products to the grains industry, by exhibiting and launching their products at the conference.
Early-bird registrations to the conference are open, with discounts for farmers and students.
The conference is the best place to engage with growers, advisors and the wider industry in one place. Get your copy of the prospectus by contacting ASGC via the website: australiansummergrains.com.au.
