1. Chinese New Year celebratio­n

When: Today from 10am to 2pm

Where: Clive Berghofer Recreation Centre, Baker St, Toowoomba.

A special Chinese New Year celebratio­n will be held today.

Everyone is invited to the free event, which will be held across from the University for Southern Queensland.

Food and market stalls, activities and free entertainm­ent will be available.

A cultural costume competitio­n will be available for children at the celebratio­n.

2. Alice’s Wonderland exhibition

When: Today and tomorrow from 9.30am to 4pm

Where: Cobb and Co Museum, 27 Lindsay St, Toowoomba.

The Cobb and Co Museum has extended its Alice’s Wonderland exhibition until February 17.

The exhibition will teach children from ages three to eight basic science concepts through a range of activities.

The activities will introduce children to optics and illusion, word play, physics and maths.

Entry into the museum is free for residents of the Toowoomba Regional Council area with proof of residency.

3. Avenue Q

When: Tonight from 8pm to 10.30pm

Where: University of Southern Queensland Artsworx, Toowoomba.

The Shoebox Theatre Company’s rendition of the adult puppet show Avenue Q will bring its unique sense of humour to Toowoomba.

Winner of the Tony Triple Crown for best musical, best score and best book, the show tells the timeless story of a college graduate trying to find his way in the world.

Tickets to the MA15+ show are $40 for adults and $35 for concession and students.

4. Tunes in the Garden

When: Tomorrow from 12.30pm to 2.30pm

Where: Kingfisher­s Cafe and Restaurant, 333 Spring St, Toowoomba.

Music-lovers are invited to come along and enjoy an afternoon of easy-listening tunes.

5. Brisbane Broncos trial

When: Tonight, 6pm

Where: Father Ranger Oval, Warwick THE Brisbane Broncos will take on Intrust Super Cup team Souths Logan Magpies in Warwick tomorrow night.

Gates open at 2pm with kick-off at 6pm.

Tickets are available at the gate, which cost $15 for adults and $8 for children aged 10-18.

Children under 10 can enter for free.

6. Life and Beth fundraiser show

When: Tonight from 7pm to 9pm

Where: Toowoomba Repertory Theatre, 94 Margaret St, Toowoomba.

Hope Horizon will hold a special fundraisin­g performanc­e of Life and Beth.

The comedy show follows the recently widowed Beth as she hosts her first family Christmas since her husband’s death.

Tickets for the show are $25 which includes a glass of wine, supper and canapés.

Proceeds of the show will go to Hope Horizon’s Cancer Wellness Centre.

7. Monthly dance

Where: Gowrie Little Plain Hall, 111 Gowrie Little Plain Rd.

The Gowrie Little Plain Hall invites everyone to its monthly dance tonight.

Timeless Orchestra will provide live entertainm­ent for the evening.

Entry is $20 per person which includes a lucky-door ticket drawn every hour, home-made supper and raffles.

8. Toowoomba Markets

When: Tomorrow from 8am to 2pm

Where: The Mills Precinct, 251/291 Ruthven St, Toowoomba.

Market-goers have the opportunit­y to pick up a bargain at the Toowoomba Markets tomorrow at The Mills Precinct.

Vendors will offer a variety of goods such as craft, services, bric-a-brac and home-grown produce.

The market offers an opportunit­y for small businesses to sell their wares without competing against franchises.

9. Belle Vie Animal Rescue’s Valentine’s “Pawathon”

Where: Queens Park, Lindsay St, Toowoomba.

The Belle Vie Animal Rescue will hold a special fundraiser walk.

The 1.2km walk will go from Queens Park to Bar Wunder for participan­ts to enjoy beer and bratwurst.
