GETTING LIPPY: BEST METHODS FOR A SEAMLESS LOOK

-

When it’s done right, a bold lipstick can be one of the most powerful make-up looks you can work, but trying to make it stay on past your first cup of coffee is often the real challenge.

Luckily, Morgane Martini from Marc Jacobs has revealed the best tricks for getting your smackers looking tip-top.

To begin with, Morgane advises using a concealer around the outer edges of your lip to help highlight and define your lip shape.

She said: “I always put a touch of concealer on the outer edge of my lips before I do my lipstick because it helps cancel out any redness, gives you a blank canvas to work on and makes the lipstick look seamless”

She doesn’t recommend using concealer directly on the lips however, as this can separate or dilute the lipstick once applied.

TRUST IN LIP LINER

For novice make-up wearers, using lip liner can seem a bit daunting, but Morgane points out that using it will not only push your lipstick look to new levels but, more importantly, it’s key in giving you extra fullness in your pout.

She advises edging your lip liner slightly above your upper lip, so as to give you a little more ... plump. To make it a little more natural, grab a cotton bud or just your finger and smudge it in.

USE A BRUSH

Admittedly, too much lip liner can be horrifically ’90s, and not the look we’re going for.

So if you’re hoping for a little less of a statement lip, Morgane suggests using a different tool for definition when applying your product.

She said: “I use a lip brush to make the colour more precise..”

If you don’t have a brush, she says a cotton bud works just as well, or your finger again.

MAKE IT LONG-LASTING

So you’ve finally nailed your lip look and you’re ready to walk out feeling like a 10. How do you make it stay on?

Morgane said: “If you want your lipstick to last longer, apply it like usual. Separate a tissue so that it’s one single ply, place it on the lip and dust a little translucent powder on top with a small brush,” she adds.

“Remove the tissue, then add another coat of lipstick on top of that. Trust me, it’ll last forever.”
