Broncos assistant sees potential in Paix

-

“One of his goals is to play consistently at Intrust Super Cup level, and this will be one of his springboards to do that this year.

“Training around players like Anthony Milford gives him something to aspire to, and also creates competition around the club for positions, which we hope gets the best out of them.

“He’s level-headed and focused, and wants to get to that next level.”

With the side boasting just five players with NRL experience, Richards said it was a great opportunity for the club’s progressive talent to push their case for selection throughout the year.

“We have the entire coaching staff coming out, and we’ve got some very young and talented players taking the field,” he said.

“We’re playing a senior team, and for a lot of these young blokes it will be their first game of senior football.

“People will get to see the next generation of Broncos coming through, and we love taking out trials out to country regions.

“Warwick has a strong league history.”

At this early stage of the season the scoreboard will mean little, with Richards hoping to see the benefits of the player development system shine.

“Tonight is a great opportunity to try and implement the new game model,” he said.

“It’s an honour to be able to coach some of these junior players coming through the system, and they’ve been developing throughout the club for a number of years now.”

‘‘ CORY IS A REAL COMPETITOR. HE’S WILLING TO LEARN AND IS ALREADY CREATING GOOD HABITS. HE’LL ALWAYS BE ONE OF THE LAST PLAYERS TO LEAVE THE TRAINING PADDOCK.
