Much-loved boutique rebrands
New look, same great service at Lara Boutique
ONE of Toowoomba’s enduring fashion icons has been renamed and re-branded.
Lara Boutique is the new name of the much-loved Garden City boutique NB Style.
For mother and daughter team Ruth and Louise Armstrong, it was time for a change.
“We couldn’t own the name or the web domain so we felt it was time to make a clean break and personalise the store to us,” Mrs Armstrong said.
The Armstrongs have owned the store since May last year.
While the name may have changed, Mrs Armstrong said the tone of the store remained the same - providing high-end event wear and exclusive European day-wear labels for the city’s women.
“People are excited about the change in pace and the change in look, and they’re really appreciating the good customer service,” she said.
“Because you know, we’re tall girls and we’ve always had trouble getting clothes to fit. So we’re extremely sympathetic to ladies who struggle with body image and struggle with getting clothes that fit them, so we try and make the experience as pleasurable and as easy

as possible.”
Now in Year 12, Louise has been eyeing a career in fashion since she was in Year Nine.
She works as a sales assistant and helps select the dresses for the shop.
“I guess I have the teenage perspective on things... so I look at all the seasons that come out from the brands,” she said.
“I’m Grade 12 this year so I’m looking at what I want for my formal as well and I’m hearing things from my friends, so I keep my eyes open for things that I think the girls will like.”
As for the new name, it was “hard to think of a name,” Ms Armstrong said.
“But Lara, it sort of combines both of our names Louise And Ruth Armstrong, and also we found out it means famous and shining in Latin.”
