TALKING CRICKET

-

The “C” word; no, not council, but cricket.

Cricket has pretty much dominated sporting headlines for the past 12 months and now the keyboard whingers are still going hard prior to the anticipated return of Smith and Warner. The players have done the crime and they have done the time (well almost), yet we have so many critics, most who wouldn’t know “bat from ball”, wanting them banned for good, wanting them not to ever be allowed to play for Australia again and Smith, to never captain Australia again. Yes, they did wrong but they copped a pretty harsh penalty which is nearing its end.

To all you learned cricket fanatics out there, ball tampering is nothing new, and I suspect it is still happening somewhere (except in Australia of course, ha ha!).

Sure, when these players return to the Australian team, unfortunately others will have to stand down. Now while some will say, “that’s just not cricket”, it is in fact life.

Remember after these players were sidelined and Australia slumped, the cricket tragics were out in force whinging and whining about the team’s sub-standard performances.

Australia eventually wins a couple of tests and these tragics continue to whinge – yes, but they only beat Sri Lanka, wait until they play India or England etc. Experts all, these fanatic cricketing tragics.

Here’s my prediction – when these blokes return and start to make a few runs, maybe even knock up a few centuries, their past knockers will be singing their praises.

Now, with that (cricket) out of the way, maybe we can get back to business ... council.

Just joking folks.
