MOTORSPORT: Will Brown capped off a breakout 2018 season with a prestigious award win earlier this month.

The 2017 Confederation of Australian Motor Sports Peter Brock Medal winner added the Queensland CAMS 2018 Will Power trophy to his cabinet – a win he will always treasure.

“Winning this award means a lot to me,” Brown said.

“Will (Power) has done great things in IndyCar and for Australian motorsport and he’s a Toowoomba lad just like me.

“I know Will and his dad Bob personally; Bob helped me with advice when I made the transition from go-karts to bigger racing, so to win this award is a real honour.”

However, Brown’s latest award win is firmly in his rearview mirror with the young V8 Supercars ace firmly focused on the season.

Speaking to The Chronicle from Adelaide as he prepares for the first round of the Dunlop Super2 Series, Brown believes he can push for a title this year.

“I’m pumped and really looking forward to the season ahead,” he said.

“Being back for another season with the same teams in the Dunlop Super2 Series (Eggleston Motorsport) and Supercars (Erebus Motorsport) gives me a lot of confidence.

“I think we can mount a great challenge for the Super2 title – that’s certainly the goal.”

Brown said “familiarity” would play a massive part in his quest for success this year.

“Getting speed out of the car on the track is fairly simple,” Brown said.

“It’s the result of all the hard work you do off it.

“Having a good relationship with your team is important.

“Knowing and being able to work with your engineer and other members of your team is vital when it comes to racing.

“My team is like my family and I love working with them.”

The talented 20-year-old is also keen to push his claims for a full-time V8 Supercars drive by putting his best foot forward for Erebus Motorsport.

Brown will partner Anton de Pasquale again this year after the dynamic duo turned plenty of heads during the enduro races in 2018.

“I’m really looking forward to partnering with Anton, he’s a talented driver and good mate,” Brown said.

“The goal is to secure a fulltime V8 drive one day and I can help that along by performing well this year.”
