THOUSANDS of Toowoomba residents are expected to walk through the doors of the Founders Pavilion this weekend for The Chronicle Lifeline Bookfest.

Lifeline Darling Downs business services manager Angela Klein said there were seven shipping containers worth of books that people would be able to buy this weekend.

“We’re up on last year by about 10 per cent,” she said.

“We usually have between five and six shipping containers, but this year we had an influx over Christmas and now have seven.”

Ms Klein said there would be something for everyone at the sale.

“It depends what you’re looking for,” she said.

“There’s a really big Australian section, lots of craft and a enormous number of children’s book.

“There will be people lined up out the front waiting for the doors to open.”

Ms Klein said the SES would be on hand to assist people get in and out of the car park.

This is the 39th event for Toowoomba’s Bookfest. Ms Klein said a number of volunteers had been involved since the very first one.

“You don’t have to tell them what to do, they just know what to do,” she said.

“A lot of volunteers also bring their family, so it’s become a family tradition for them to come up to Bookfest in March every year.”

There is free admission to Bookfest, free parking and eftpos available.

All proceedsgo towards Lifeline Darling Downs’ crisis support and suicide prevention services.
