Anglers having very good cod success at Leslie Dam
COOBY DAM
Still remains shut due to an algae bloom outbreak.
CRESSBROOK DAM
Unfortunately, still closed to all water activities.
SOMERSET DAM
With strong wind predicted all week it was a little hard to get out and catch a fish.
Now, with the forecast being a little better, we should see the fish turn on with the dam not getting so much attention.
Trolling the edge of the creek bed on Pelican Point has been by far the most successful.
With the fish being concentrated tight to the bottom, and the cold weather settling in, we should see the ice jig bite come into play.
COOLMUNDA DAM
Still very trying fishing conditions out at Coolmunda this week and with very little water clarity the fish are finding it hard to home in on lures.
Saltwater yabbies being the go-to bait for the anglers.
LESLIE DAM
By far the most consistent cod fishery in Queensland at the moment, with anglers having very good success on a multiple of lures and baits.
Trolling larger spinnerbaits was the go-to technique for a few local fisherman.
The yellowbelly have been active through the afternoon, again saltwater yabbies working well.
BOONDOOMA DAM
With the colder weather settling in and a little rise in water levels, we have seen a great edge bite the last few weeks.
Casting spinnerbaits or lipless crankbaits to the steeper rock walls has worked well on these fish.
Still signs of fish schooled up quite thick in the main basin across from the dam wall.
Targeting these fish with
spoons and heavy plastics worked well on these deeper suspended fish.
COPETON DAM
Starting to see some great signs from Copeton from last weekend, with some anglers landing some great fish.
Covering water while trolling was the best option as the fish are quite spread out throughout the lake.
For the casting anglers, fishing deeper drop offs with mumblers fooled some great fish over the weekend.
GOLD COAST OFFSHORE/MORETON BAY
Very tough weather over the last few weeks with wind and huge swell making it hard to get out.
The Spanish mackerel have moved in east off Mermaid Beach.
Trolled hardbodies, or a well presented live bait, was the go to.
For the bottom fisherman there has been some great action closer to the coast on the 36 and 54 fathom reefs, with good snapper and pearl perch being on the bite.
Moreton Bay this week has
seen some long tail tuna action not far from Moreton Island.
These fish are moving very quickly making them very difficult to catch.
Casting smaller slugs or stickbaits will be your best chance at getting these fussy, pressured fish to eat your offering.
