A TOOWOOMBA woman has been ordered to stay away from her ex-partner’s new girlfriend as a result of what police claim to be a concerning stalking incident.

The 36-year-old woman, who cannot be named due to domestic violence orders, spent the Friday night in the Toowoomba watch house before appearing before the Saturday morning call-over session of the city’s Magistrates Court.

She has been charged with stalking, wilful damage and breaching a domestic violence order, though she has not as yet been required to offer a plea to any of those charges.

Police claim the woman had initially slashed the tyres of her ex-partner’s new girlfriend’s car.

However, it is alleged the woman was later captured on CCTV camera crouching behind the complainant woman’s car before smearing her own blood across the rear of the vehicle.

The accused woman, who has no criminal history at all, has a child with her ex-partner, the court heard.

Police prosecutor Senior Constable Christie Mahoney told the court police would not object to the woman’s bail application as long as a range of bail conditions were put in place.

Because the woman was an overseas resident police would also ask that her passport be surrendered, she said.

Magistrate Viviana Keegan granted the woman bail on condition she reside at a Newtown address given to the court, have no contact with the complainant woman or go within 100m of two Toowoomba unit addresses given to the court, report to police once a week and surrender her passport.

Ms Keegan remanded the woman on bail and adjourned the matters for mention back in the same court on March 27.
