Food and Agri Network compiling list of producers

- JO SHEPPARD Chamber CEO

THE Toowoomba Chamber of Commerce launched its Food and Agri Network (FAN) late last year and has established an advisory group made up of local food and ag business people to work with Chamber on developing initiatives to support this important part of Toowoomba’s economy.

The Toowoomba region has developed a strong reputation as a leading food and agriculture region nationally.

It is seriously amazing to see the diversity of food products grown and produced in our region. Local cafes, restaurants and distributors are keen to incorporate more local produce into their menus and onto their shelves.

Chamber’s FAN are currently putting together a local produce directory to make help open up some of these local supply chain opportunities and facilitate connections between local food producers and local buyers.

Connecting local buyers with local producers also feeds into our tourism opportunities helping to build Toowoomba as destination for visitors wanting to sample some of our local produce and enjoy our growing foodie scene.

We are calling for local food producers who would like to be included in the Local Produce Directory to contact Chamber.

We will be compiling information such as the type of food product produced, its seasonal availability, ordering requirements and contact details, and distributing this directory to chefs, cafes, restaurants and distributors across Toowoomba.

Already we have received significant interest from many local producers with a range of interesting food products from edible flowers, limes, avocados, garlic, olives, micro-herbs through to quail, eggs and lamb.

If you are a local food producer and keen to develop new markets and open up supply chain opportunities locally, then listing in our Local Produce Directory will assist your business.

Chamber’s FAN are excited to be working to bridge this gap and connect our local food producers with market opportunities here in Toowoomba.

For further information or to get involved please contact the Toowoomba Chamber of Commerce.
