ACCUSED killer Robert Ian Trebeck had scratches on his arm on the morning Alexis Jeffery’s body was found that had not been there the day before, Toowoomba Supreme Court has heard.

Trebeck and his then fiance Kimberly Larkins had stayed with friends Debbie and Ray “Spider” Styles in town on the night of Saturday, March 15,

2014.

Debbie Styles told the court she had woken on the Sunday morning about 5.30am and had seen Trebeck in her front yard walking around.

Later as the four had coffee, she had noticed scratches on Trebeck’s wrists and he said he had probably received them when working on the property where they lived.

However, she said she didn’t notice the scratches the day before.

Days later after Trebeck had spoken with police, Kimberly had again been staying with the Styles when Trebeck arrived to take her home.

“I went out to Robert and asked him if Kim was going to be safe with him and he said ‘Yes’,” she said. “He then said ‘I didn’t kill her’.”

Trebeck, 38, has pleaded not guilty to killing mother of three Alexis Jeffery whose almost naked body was found on the banks of the Macintyre River on March 16, 2014.

Defence barrister Ben Power has suggested to the jury that there was another suspect, Daniel Rowsell.

Darryl Sutton, who said he was a good friend of Ms Jefferey’s, was working security at the Queensland Hotel that night where Ms Jeffery, Trebeck and other witnesses had been.

Under cross examination by Mr Power, Mr Sutton agreed that Daniel Rowsell had arrived at the hotel with a young woman and both appeared affected by drugs.

Mr Sutton said the young woman fell into his arms and he had called for someone to call an ambulance but Rowsell had continued to walk inside the hotel.

The trial continues.
