Volkswagen fever takes over Picnic Point this weekend

- MATTHEW NEWTON Matthew.Newton@thechronicle.com.au

PICNIC Point will be crawling with bugs and bug-lovers come tomorrow, thanks to the annual Dubs on the Hill car show.

Celebrating a love of all things Volkswagen, everything from old Kombi wagons and Beetles to newer models will be on display, with more than 150 car owners from around the state and further afield expected to motor up the range for the event.

Running from 9am until 1pm tomorrow, Klub VW Darling Downs president Neil Battherham said the free event would give people an insight into the “classic VW concept”.

“The public can come up on Sunday and they’ll have access to these cars and more importantly the owners – there are a lot of characters that own old kombis and beetles – and they’ll get to talk to them and have a look at the vehicles,” Mr Battheram said.

There will also be more than 40 market stalls on offer on the day.

Winner of the 2017 Bathurst, Luke Youlden, will be making the trip from the Gold Coast as part of a small contingent of Porsches that will be part of the show.

Mr Youlden will also be judging the Best in Show award on the day.

Mr Batterham said the event was made possible by the participation and volunteer work of the club’s members.
