GOLF: Rising golf talent Quinn Croker begins his bid for a unique trilogy of wins when he tees off in today’s first round of the 2019 Toowoomba Golf Club championship.

Sixteen-year-old Croker this year shoots for his third successive Middle Ridge club senior club title and begins the fourround event in sparkling form.

Croker last month made his professional tournament debut in the Queensland PGA Championship at City Golf Club and last weekend peeled off a sizzling eight-under round at Toowoomba Golf Club in preparation for his title defence against a class field including Pennants reps Justin Shine, Chris Webster and Ian Watkins.

Club general manager Johnathon Zirkler said Croker was on the verge of a special achievement if he is able to complete the title treble.

“I’ve never heard of a 16year-old achieving three senior wins anywhere in Australia,” Zirkler said.

“Quinn is certainly in the right sort of form to achieve the feat after shooting a score of seven-under on the back nine during a club round here last Saturday.

“It was one of two exceptional rounds with young Kelson O’Rourke also firing a great score.

“The course is in good nick and the greens are close to the best I’ve seen them so hopefully we can see some good scoring over the next two weekends.”
