Set against the backdrop of war-torn France, Les Misérables tells the story of Jean Valjean (Dominic West, below), a former convict unable to escape the shadow of his past life, and the chilling police officer and former prison guard, Javert (David Oyelowo), who will stop at nothing to bring him to justice.
