Gym offers helping hand for flood victims

-

THE floods in north Queensland devastated the community, but one Toowoomba gym is going all in to help support our northern neighbours.

Fierce Fitness Toowoomba has been running special group workout sessions on Saturdays for $10, donating 100 per cent of the money raised to the Sisters of The North charity.

“When things get tough you want to quit but this reminds (the people who come) that they are doing it for a bigger purpose,” Fierce Fitness owner Danielle Gardiner said.

“It adds that little bit more of motivation to the group.”

At the time of print, their fundraising efforts have netted a total of $1475 to help with the clean-up.

“The first week we had 25 people, last Saturday we had over 40 and (for the next one) we’ve already had more than 40 people say they are coming so we are hoping we might reach 50,” Ms Gardiner said.

“People have been very generous and it has been very motivating for them.”

Fierce Fitness is running two more sessions on Saturdays for $10.

Cloncurry-based Sisters of The North has raised thousands for those impacted by the floods, offering a SMS voucher system between businesses and recipients to help those in need.
