PURE Land Learning College’s Venerable Master Chin Kung has continued to display the teachings of the school by helping fund health research.

The religious leader invited leaders of the community to a special luncheon at the college on Monday where he presented the Toowoomba Hospital Foundation a donation of $120,000.

Pure Land Learning College’s Multi-Faith Multicultural Centre director Muhammed Haniff said the donation had become an annual tradition at the college.

“The college has been making donations for medical research annually for about 10 years,” he said.

“Every year the Venerable Master allocates about $120,000 to the Toowoomba Hospital Foundation where they will allocate them to where they see fit.”

Mr Haniff said the master was inspired by the generosity the Toowoomba community displayed to the college when it was established in 2001.

“One of the reasons why he focuses on funding medical research is because it will be benefit everyone in the future,” he said.

The funds raised were from donations from the master’s followers and donors.

Toowoomba Hospital Foundation chief executive officer Alison Kennedy said the foundation was fortunate to have the support of the Pure Land Learning College.

“We can’t thank the Venerable Master Chin Kung and Pure Land Learning College enough for their generosity over the years,” she said.

“With their support we’ve been able to help Darling Downs Health staff realise their research goals and give them the support they need to help their patients and the wider community through their research.”
