USQ’s new microcourses offer accreditation

-

THE University of Southern Queensland has launched USQ UpSkill which is a suite of online minicourses for professional accreditation.

USQ faculty of business, education, law and arts executive dean Professor Barbara de la Harpe said the university had more than 50 years’ experience in delivering education and this was another way of continuing to provide education excellence.

“As a leader in online education, we know that professional learning is much more than just reading and writing content,” she said.

“We have been watching closely what is happening in this space worldwide, as well as in-depth consultation with industry, and as a result developed skill-specific minicourses that cater to existing and future occupational needs.”

Each online minicourse includes approximately 40 hours of learning including one assessment over four weeks.

“You can access your minicourse anywhere, meaning you can gain credentials as you get to work each day, while sitting on your couch at home, or any time in between,” Professor de la Harpe said.

“They are designed for professionals with existing qualifications or significant work experience. The concepts and assessments are aimed at more than simple application of knowledge and are designed for levelling up professional knowledge and practice.”
