TOOWOOMBA woman Dorothy Hancock had one request for those attending her 100th birthday party yesterday – that everyone dressed in red.

The Glenvale Villas aged-care facility was transformed into a sea of colour for the March birthday bash, with Ms Hancock going against the grain in blue.

Family and friends travelled in from out of town to mark the impressive milestone, Ms Hancock standing to blow out the candles on her cake.

“I don’t worry about being 100, birthdays just come and go,” Ms Hancock said.

“I just like to live everyday as it comes - life is wonderful.

“I wouldn’t like to be without my family they mean a lot to me.”

Ms Hancock accredited her longevity to being able to “go with the flow”.

Her son Garth Hancock said it paid to have a positive outlook on life.

“She has good health and that’s the main thing,” Mr Hancock said.

“She is certainly a strong-willed woman, she lives a moderate lifestyle with a positive mindset.

“God has given her a long living gene, like her mother. If I get to 100 and have faculties like her, that would be great.”

Ms Hancock turns 100 on March 29. She and her family are planning on celebrating it with an outing to Newtown Park.
