Touching reunion for baby’s extra special delivery

- TARA MIKO JOURNALIST tara.miko@thechronicle.com.au

BABY Tilly Roze Morgan-Gofton won’t remember it, but within the first few minutes of her life she charmed her family and paramedics with her unique delivery.

Born in the back of an ambulance on Taylor St on Toowoomba’s outskirts, baby Tilly was just too eager to greet the world.

With calm instructions from emergency medical dispatcher Angie Taylor, and the careful hands of advanced care paramedics Stephen Osborne and Chris Mills, Tilly is a bundle of joy and picture of health for first-time mother Jasmine Morgan.

“The guys were perfect, they helped me through everything,” Ms Morgan said.

BABY Tilly Roze Morgan-Gofton may not remember it, but her reunion with the paramedics who delivered her in the back of an ambulance was just as special as her introduction to the world.

Born at 8.35am on March 10 on Taylor St on Toowoomba’s outskirts, Tilly - named for her great-grandmother - was a picture of health as she met Pittsworth advanced care paramedics Stephen Osborne and Chris Mills yesterday.

First-time mother Jasmine Morgan, 18, had gone into labour days earlier than planned when her contractions started in earnest about 5am that day.

Waking her cousin Cookie Williams, Ms Morgan began pacing the house before emergency medical dispatcher Angie Taylor picked up the 000 call.

She calmly went through the steps before paramedics arrived at the Irongate property, bundled up Ms Morgan in the ambulance and hit the road for Toowoomba, to her mother Liz Morgan’s relief.

But Tilly wouldn’t wait. “I was just happy that I had her,” Ms Morgan said.

“The guys were perfect, they helped me through everything.”

It was the first baby delivery for 16-year veteran paramedic Mr Osborne.

“Little Tilly decided she was going to come here and now,” he said.

“We couldn’t have asked for something better.

“As much as this was something that this was a firsttime experience for mum, it was certainly a first-time experience for me as well.”

His mentor Mr Mills said it was a special moment to see mum and baby doing well.

“Baby has got my heart and she’s a beautiful little girl,” he said.

Tilly’s official place of birth is listed as “Ambulance, Taylor St”, and she weighed 2580g.
