Float entries for Floral Parade are now open
THE Grand Central Floral Parade attracts more than 100,000 people each year and is a highlight of The Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers.
The floral parade has 70 to 80 entries each year and has more than 2000 volunteers participating in it. Members of the community take months creating their floats, putting special effort into making it stand out from the rest.
This week people were invited to attend the Grand Central Floral Parade’s launch and entrant information evening.
Grand Central marketing manager Marieke Bridgeman said entries were now open for this year’s parade, which will be held on September 21.
“It’s the only fresh floral parade of its kind in Australia, so it is truly unique,” she said.
“Almost anyone can participate – including workplaces, social and community groups, local performers, artists and musical groups.”
The Grand Central Floral Parade 2019 theme is Power of the Flower.
“This is the year to explore the beauty of the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers, which is now in its 70th year, and to celebrate how this event has influenced our region,” Ms Bridgeman said.
If you’re interested in finding out more about entering the parade, head to the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers website to download the information booklet and parade entrant application. Entries need to be received by Tuesday, April 16.
