GRAND CHAMPION:

The winner will receive $1,200, a holiday voucher valued at $1,200 from Stonestree­ts Travel plus the Lorna Densley Perpetual Trophy and The Chronicle Trophy.

RESERVE GRAND CHAMPION:

The winner will receive $1,000, a holiday voucher valued at $1,000 from Stonestree­ts Travel, plus a trophy.

RESIDENTIA­L CLASSES

Entrants may enter only ONE of the following:

CLASS 1: Acreage Garden

Open to gardens surroundin­g homes on properties 4000 sqm (1 acre) or more. 1st – $1,000 plus The Springs Garden World Acreage Trophy, 2nd – $800, 3rd – $500.

CLASS 2: Large Homestead Garden

For gardens surroundin­g homes on properties that occupy from 2000sqm (½ acre) to 4000 sqm (1 acre). 1st – $1,000, 2nd – $800, 3rd – $500.

CLASS 3: Small Homestead Garden

Open to gardens surroundin­g homes on properties to occupy less than 2000 sqm (½ acre) but are not in town. 1st – $1,000, 2nd – $800, 3rd – $500.

CLASS 4: Town Garden

Judged on whole of garden basis. 1st – $1,000, 2nd – $800, 3rd – $500.

CLASS 5: Front Garden

The front garden will be judged back to any dividing fence or natural screen, but no further than the back corners of the house. 1st – $1,000, 2nd – $800, 3rd – $500.

CLASS 6: Back Garden

The back garden will be judged forward to any dividing fence or natural screen, but no further than front corners of the house. 1st – $1,000, 2nd – $800, 3rd – $500.

CLASS 7: Heritage Bank First Time Entrant Garden

Open to any sized garden which has not previously been entered by the current owner in the competitio­n. 1st – $1,000 2nd – $800, 3rd – $500. First Time Entrant gardens will only be required to be open to the public on the weekends during the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers (unless awarded Grand Champion or Reserve Grand Champion). Entrants cannot win this category if the property has been purchased from a previous Garden Entrant who has won Classes 1-7 in the last three years.

COMMERCIAL AND NOT-FOR-PROFIT

Entrants may enter only ONE of the following:

CLASS 8: Commercial Premises CLASS 9: Not-for-Profit Organisati­ons

OPTIONAL CLASSES

To enter an optional class you must also enter a class from 1 to 7.

You can enter 3 options ONLY.

OPTION 1: Floral Garden

Gardens to be judged for overall floral effect. This garden can include – annuals, perennials, flowering plants. 1st – $500, 2nd – $350, 3rd – $200.

OPTION 2: Predominan­tly Australian Native Garden

Best garden incorporat­ing predominan­tly Australian native flora. 1st – $500 plus Toowoomba Society for Growing Australian Plants Trophy, 2nd – $350, 3rd – $200.

OPTION 3: Best Productive Garden

Entrants should display vegetable and herb gardens which may include fruit trees, vines and bushes. 1st – $500, 2nd – $350, 3rd – $200.

OPTION 4: Small Space Garden, Courtyard or Bush House

Small space garden, courtyard or bush house with an area of less than 40sqm. 1st – $500; 2nd – $350; 3rd – $200.

OPTION 5: Best Sustainabl­e Garden (including Waterwise)

Judged on features illustrati­ng whole garden sustainabi­lity. It is to be a welldesign­ed and largely self-sustaining outdoor space demonstrat­ing eco-friendly gardening practices. The garden must demonstrat­e it is waterwise through the capture, retention, and efficient use of rainfall and other water sources such as town water. Prizes awarded by Toowoomba Regional Council (Waterwise) 1st – $500, 2nd – $350, 3rd – $200.
