-

TOOWOOMBA’S favourite musical daughter Gina Jeffreys will feature in an exciting salute to one of the world’s greatest bands while supporting a good cause.

Jeffreys is set to feature in From Abbey Road to Empire on October 6, with proceeds from the performance that will include a line-up of top artists and musicians going to to the Toowoomba Hospital Foundation.

“I am a massive Beatles fan so I am more than honoured to be asked back home to perform at this wonderful concert,” she said.

“I think it’s going to be one of those shows that people will remember for years to come.

“I can’t wait to come home and stand on that beautiful Empire Theatre stage with some of my oldest friends and musicians I have known almost my entire life.”

Those musical friends will include James Royal, Dale Robbins, Ross Kessler, Natalie Atkins, Anthony Herbert and Ella McKay, Project 62, Turnbull and Sharon Matheson.

The performance, which will mark 50 years to the day Abbey Road was released in Australia, will run over three hours and include a live orchestra with strings and brass section.

A 50-piece choir will round out the mix, featuring the Toowoomba Choral Society Contemporary Choral and the Toowoomba Anglican School Choir, under the direction of Andrew Will and his assistant Nerida Eckert.

The show is sponsored by the Dodd Family, JB’s Cabaret, Terry Herbert who, during the 1960s and 1970s, brought Australian and international stars to Toowoomba, as well as well-known Chapter 111 singer Don Duffus.

From Abbey Road to Empire will play the Empire Theatre on October 6, from 2pm. The production runs over three hours. Tickets are $69 and are available now. Contact the Empire Theatre in person, by phone on 1300 655 299 or online at empiretheatre.com.au.
