RACING: Punters will be hoping the newly formed training partnership of Toby Edmonds and his son Trent makes a successful Clifford Park debut when it ventures to Toowoomba with three runners tomorrow night.

Gold Coast-based Toby took his son on board as co-trainer at the start of the latest racing season with the pair already combining for wins at Gatton, Ipswich and Gold Coast.

Toby was flying solo on his latest Clifford Park raid last month when he was successful with Filters.

This week the Edmonds line up with She Goes Pop ($5.50), Coastal Prince ($5.50 fav) and The Palms ($6.50).

The trio will be ridden by premier Brisbane apprentice Baylee Nothdurft who makes his way to Clifford Park after fulfilling five rides at Doomben including the Edmondstrained Tardis.

Four-year-old Coastal Prince is a winner at his only Clifford Park start after breaking through with a Three-YearOld Maiden Plate (1625m) victory last October.

He finished midfield last time out in an Eagle Farm Three-Year-Old Handicap (1600m) on July 20 after previously winning a Doomben Three-Year-Old Handicap (1600m).

Downs horses in Highway race debut

DALBY’S David Reynolds and Oakey trainer Graham Banks will be the first Darling Downs stables to have a crack at the newly introduced Highwaygrade race when it makes its Queensland debut tomorrow at Doomben.

Reynolds is represented in the The Queensland Country Highway Class 4 Restricted Plate (1350m) by Run Pam Run while Banks saddles Court Rules.

The race — which is being trialled by Racing Queensland — is restricted to Queensland trainers based at tracks which do not host a Saturday metropolitan race.

Horses trained at Clifford Park, Eagle Farm, Doomben, Gold Coast, Ipswich and Sunshine Coast are ineligible.

A trainer must have also had a horse in his care for at least 180 days.

The format is modelled on the successful Highway series races run in New South Wales.

Gatton trainer Brenton Andrew also lines up in tomorrow’s Highway with in-form Sugar Buzz and Hellava Babe.

■ COUNTRY racing tomorrow includes a five-race Central Warrego Race Club card at Charleville.
