Business at Dusk to hear from movers and shakers

- DEBBIE-ANNE BENDER Chamber CEO

THE Toowoomba chamber’s premier networking event Business at Dusk takes place next Wednesday, August 21, at Toowoomba Wellcamp Airport.

This month we are fortunate in securing John Wagner, Toowoomba Wellcamp Airport, Peter Homan, Southern Queensland Country Tourism and Pat Gleeson from Oakey Beef as special guests.

Each organisation contributes to the economic growth of Toowoomba City and the surrounding regions.

The Toowoomba Wellcamp Airport is now in its sixth year of operations and is well positioned as a major economic driver for the Toowoomba and Surat Basin regions, contributing liveability, economic opportunity and cementing the region as a trade and logistics hub.

The Wellcamp precinct is much more than just an airport, the Wellcamp Business Park is a modern business hub strategically located and with a focus on aviation, logistics, transport, corporate and mining services for the regional south east Queensland.

To remain competitive, it is critical for businesses to be congruent with transport and logistics and there is no doubt the Wellcamp Precinct will enable more opportunities for small and large businesses in our region’s food and agriculture sector.

Tourism clearly plays an important part of the economy and with 669,992 international visitor nights in Toowoomba in 2017/2018, it is imperative businesses understand the diverse tourism markets to maximize services and meet tourists’ needs.

The tourism industry is a key driver particularly with the connectivity through the Toowoomba Wellcamp Airport, which has opened new markets.

Oakey Beef Exports was established in 1956 and purchased by NH Foods Australia (NHA) 1986 and has since rebuilt the facility into an award winning, vertically integrated supply chain business.

It is one of Australia’s largest beef processing plants, employing more than 800 people and processes up to 1200 cattle per day and an integral part in the region’s economy.

Business at Dusk provides networking opportunities for the chamber’s members and the broader Toowoomba business community and is a great way to meet with our special guests.

The event is a platform for businesses to come together and build business to business relationships, develop local supply chain opportunities and get to know the Toowoomba business community better in a relaxed and enjoyable environment.

Join us next Wednesday, August 21, from 5.30pm for a great night of drinks, nibbles and networking.

Business at Dusk is a joint venture between the Toowoomba chamber and our foundation sponsor the University of Southern Queensland.
