SCHOOLS FIGHT OUT CUP HONOURS

BASKETBALL: A hotly contested Armstrong Auto Group Positive Choices Cup for Year 9/10 schoolboys and girls came to a conclusion at the weekend.

Toowoomba Grammar claimed honours in the boys division with a 58-50 defeat of Haristown State High School, with Peter Stonestree­t earning MVP honours.

In the girls, St Joseph’s College proved too strong for Toowoomba State High School by a margin of 48-34, with Tarnee Smith named as MVP.

Boys Division. Friday’s result:- (1) Bombers d Amazing 3-112 pts to 87 pts. Singles: Angus le Roux d Fred Hudson 18 pts to 15 pts, Lachlan Bliss lost to Charlie Barwick 12 pts to 16 pts, Thomas Bernoff d Fred Hudson 16 pts to 6 pts, Lachlan Bliss d Fred Hudson 16 pts to 6 pts. Doubles: Lachlan and Thomas d Charlie 17 pts to 8 pts, Thomas and Angus d Fred 14 pts to 11 pts, Lachlan and Angus lost to Charlie 7 pts to 13 pts, Thomas and Angus tied with Charlie 12pts all.
