THE Travelling Film Festival, the regional tour of Sydney Film Festival, will return to Toowoomba from September 6-8.

The program will showcase seven incredible feature films and three fascinating documentaries direct from the 66th Sydney Film Festival, at Toowoomba Strand Cinema.

“We are very excited to bring the Festival back to the local community in Toowoomba,” festival manager Sanam Rodrigues said.

“This year’s program is packed with the most exciting films direct from this year’s Sydney Film Festival, including the captivating new works of globally-renowned acclaimed directors and the very best of local Australian stories.”

Opening the Festival is Standing Up for Sunny, a charming Australian rom-com starring Breaking Bad’s RJ Mitte as a loner who uses his withering wit to help an up-and-coming comedian (played by Philippa Northeast, Home and Away) overcome her shyness.

The festival will close with Kursk, based on the gripping true story of the K-141 Russian submarine disaster in 2000, starring Colin Firth, Matthias Schoenaerts and Léa Seydoux.

Among other titles, TFF Toowoomba will also present a special screening of Australian director Ian Darling’s The Final Quarter. Earning an impassioned standing ovation at its World Premiere at Sydney Film Festival, The Final Quarter documents AFL champion footballer and Indigenous leader Adam Goodes’ call-out against racism and Australia’s heated response. Tickets are now on sale at www.sff.org.au/tff/program/toowoomba.
