Granddad ‘idolised his family’
77-year-old dies in Warwick crash
BRIAN Scott is being remembered as a humble man who “idolised his family”.
The 77-year old grandfather died on Thursday night after his car collided with a truck on Warwick-Killarney Rd.
Friends and family are mourning the Murrays Bridge man who devoted his time to charity work, including volunteering with Meals on Wheels, the Killarney and District Historical Society and Killarney Memorial Aged Care.
Mr Scott had been in the area for 10 years and moved to be closer to his sister, Colleen Killoran, who suffered minor injuries in the crash.
Mr Scott’s niece and daughter of Mrs Killoran, Margie Durnan, said Mr Scott had been driving Mrs Killoran back from a doctor’s appointment in Toowoomba when the crash occurred.
Mrs Durnan said her uncle was “one in a million” and loved spending time with his five children and grandchildren.
“He was absolutely fantastic, if anyone ever needed him, he was always there,” Mrs Durnan said. He was very family oriented, he always idolised his children and grandchildren.”
Close friend Norman Burton said Mr Scott was a generous man, who went about his charity work with humility and dedication.
“He would never tell anyone he was doing Meals on Wheels,” Mr Burton said.
“He didn’t go out looking for fame and glory, he just did it.”
Mr Scott’s 74-year-old wife, Kay, is still under medical supervision after she was flown to hospital in Brisbane last night with head injuries.
