FOOTBALL: Rockville is looking at 2019 as a success for the club.

With teams in the finals across four grades, the future of the Rovers looks to be in good hands, according to premier men’s coach Ramiz Hadzich.

“The club has been rebuilding for the last two or three years,” Hadzich said.

“Now we have four senior teams, our three men and one ladies sides, all in the finals.

“The vibe is so good, and there is a lot of young talent coming through, particularly in the conference (division) and there’s a good group in reserves.

“The ladies have been dominant throughout the season, and they’ll be confident of a grand final spot.”

Rockville has a deep understanding of their opposition in tomorrow’s premier men elimination final, Willowburn White.

The Rovers let a two-goal lead slip in last weekend’s outing against the Magpies, eventually going on to fall 4-2.

While disappointed with how the game played out, Hadzich said there were plenty of positives to take out a commanding first half-hour.

“We got on top of them in that first 30 minutes,’ he said.

“We dominated possession and our finishing was clinical.

“We let ourselves down in some other components and felt it at the end with a bit of fatigue.

“These are things that we have worked on this week at training, and if it’s a close game, we believe we can get over the line.”

Hadzich said a goal at the start of the season was to make the finals, and he believes they can handle the pressure of knockout football from this point on.

“We’ve worked all year with a goal to being in the finals,” he said.

“Being there is something we’re happy to have achieved, and now it’s focused on just one game at a time.

“We’re up for the challenge. Sometimes that sort of pressure of all or nothing is able to lift the team. The lads know they have to leave everything out there, and if they are successful, they go again.

“We’ve been unsuccessful with Willowburn White this year, but we’ve been well and truly in the game each time.

“We haven’t taken too many negatives from that. There’s just some things we’ve needed to tweak on our end to put in more complete performances.”
