GLEN MCCULLOUGH ATHLETICS: The countdown continues to the second running of the Arthur Postle Gift which will burst from the blocks in Pittsworth next month.

The gala day of running was launched last year at Club Pittsworth as the latest addition to Australia’s professional sprint racing calendar.

The day and night of running action is named in honour of Pittsworth sprint legend Arthur “The Crimson Flash” Postle who wrote his name in the world record books during the early 1900s.

Runners of all ages and levels are catered for on the program which features unique handicap racing.

The day includes:

■ Queensland’s richest Open 75-yard sprint

■ Queensland’s richest Women’s only 75-yard sprint

■ Queensland’s richest Under 18 Open 75 yard sprint

■ 120-metre Open and Under 18 events

■ 300-metre Open and Under 18 events

■ Finals under lights

■ Children non-professional events

■ Youth activities

■ Outdoor movie night for the children

All race events are sanctioned by the Queensland Athletic League.

Last year’s inaugural Arthur Postle Gift winner Max Mason is amongst the early entries for the race’s second running.

“I’m really excited. I’m counting down the days,” Mason said in anticipation of this title defence.

“The atmosphere last year was amazing and I’m looking forward to competing.”

Race entries close on Monday, September 9.
