Competition is set to heat up this weekend at Toowoomba’s Sunset Superbowl where the nation’s leading over-45-years bowlers are matching skills.

Today is day nine of the 11day ATBSO Senior Challenge with men and women competitors from every Australian state taking part in the event which also features a newly introduced team’s section.

Event coordinator Morty Douglass said spectators were welcome at the challenge which also gave members of the public a chance to participate in games from 4.30 this afternoon to help raise funds for Give Me Five For Kids.

“Starting Saturday will be the open division where we have men’s and ladies’ over 45s best bowlers in the country,” Douglass said.

“The best bowlers in that bracket will be competing over three days for the interstate trophy.

“I’m pretty sure we are going to break the national record for the number of games set at an ATBSO event.

“That’s a really good tick for Queensland, but I think what it is a reflection on the area (Toowoomba) and a state-of-theart facility like Sunset Superbowl. “It’s a great place to bring tournament bowling.

“People are welcome to come along and watch and if you really like what you see, we are running a Pro-Am on Saturday afternoon.

“We’ve hooked up with Give Me Five For Kids, a local charity which helps the hospital.

“Anyone who wants to be involved, it’s two games for $20.

“There’s prizes and you’ll get to bowl with some of these guys.

“They are going to donate their time and hopefully we can raise some money for a community organisation.

“Everyone is welcome.”
