WIDOWS Premiere Movies 405, 8.30pm

Widows is the story of four women – Veronica (Viola Davis), Alice (Elizabeth Debicki), Linda (Michelle Rodriguez) and Belle (Cynthia Erivo) – who have nothing in common except the sizeable debt left behind by their respective dead husbands’ criminal activities. Join them as they take their fate into their own hands and try and pull off the mother of all heists, in order to start fresh. Of course, it’s not going to go according to plan, but these things rarely do. Widows also stars Colin Farrell, Liam Neeson, Robert Duvall and Australia’s own Jacki Weaver. Expect some serious twists and turns and you won’t be disappoint­ed.

JONI MITCHELL AT 75 Foxtel Arts 133, 8.30pm

This two-hour special sees an incredible array of singers and musicians come together to celebrate one of the world’s most remarkable artists, Joni Mitchell (pictured), on her 75th birthday. Join Brandi Carlile, Glen Hansard, Emmylou Harris, Norah Jones, Chaka Khan, Diana Krall, Kris Kristoffer­son, Graham Nash, Seal, James Taylor and more as they hit the stage and performs songs from Mitchell’s jaw-dropping back catalogue. If you’re a fan of the legendary singer that penned so many memorable classics – including Big Yellow Taxi, Both Sides Now, California, Free Man In Paris, Woodstock and Carey – you’re in for a real treat. Joni Mitchell At 75 was captured over two nights at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in Los Angeles.

ATOMIC HOMEFRONT Fox Showcase 115, 8.30pm

In 1942, the US government chose St Louis, Missouri, as a processing centre of uranium for the first atomic bombs. Over the next 25 years, the radioactiv­e waste was moved to sites throughout the city’s northern suburbs, and was eventually dumped into a landfill. Until recently, many residents were unaware of the dangers that waste poses. This 90-minute special, filmed over three years, chronicles the efforts of everyday citizens and advocates as they take on government agencies, state representa­tives, big investors and the companies involved to make sure the air they breathe is safe. It’s not always easy to watch, but you’ll certainly be glad you did.

WARREN JEFFS: PROPHET OF EVIL Crime + Investigat­ion 609, 9.30pm

In 2011, Warren Jeffs (pictured) was convicted of two felony counts of child sexual assault. He was married to at least 78 wives at the time, had more than 50 children, and controlled millions of dollars of church finances as the President of the Fundamenta­list Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (FLDS). This two-hour special charts Jeffs’ rise and fall, and contains extensive interviews with current and former FLDS church members, his family, and the people who brought him to justice. If that’s not gripping enough, you’ll also get a peek inside the hidden compounds of the church, where more of Jeffs’ twisted secrets are revealed.
