North Qld hotel hits the market
A FOUR-star tropical resortstyle hotel, just minutes from the Townsville CBD, is on the market and set to appeal to buyers interested in its development potential.
The Mercure Hotel Townsville at 166 Woolcock St is set on 4.33ha of lakeside land and is being sold through an expressions of interest campaign on behalf of the NSWbased owners, Nonchalon Pty Ltd. The hotel has 202 guest rooms and resort-style facilities such as tennis and basketball courts, alfresco dining bar and restaurant, the lagoonstyle pool and spa, all set within tropical gardens.
The hotel accommodation includes deluxe, superior and premium rooms offering inroom dining, internet access, minibars and flat screen televisions. Each room has views of the hotel’s tropical gardens, resort pool or the lake.
According to CoreLogic the property’s freehold last changed hands in 2005 for $7.6 million.
Colliers International’s Barry Fleischmann, who is selling the property with Neville Smith and Angelo Castorina, said the Mercure brand was part of AccorHotels, the internationally renowned hospitality company, which is currently the largest hotel group in Australia.
“This significant offering is a great opportunity for the new owner to continue the hotel management agreement with AccorHotels as well as potentially expand the resort,” he said.
“A development approval was previously granted for a multi-dwelling development on the site consisting of 170 additional apartments comprising one, two and three-bedroom configurations.
“The new owner is also set to benefit from the improving Townsville economy which is spurred on by the approval of the Adani Carmichael Mine and infrastructure projects such as the regional stadium which is currently under construction.”
