SCHOOL SPORT: Toowoomba schools featured a touch of Argentina last week, with St Matthew’s College from Argentina undertaking a sporting tour.

The Buenos Aires-based school took part in a number of sports against Concordia Lutheran College, Downlands College and Fairholme College, including hockey, rugby union, swimming and volleyball.

Concordia head college Adrian Wiles said the school was delighted to share in the festivities with their Argentinian sister school.

“It was a great day of sporting action with our friends from Argentina bringing a high level of enthusiasm and sportsmanship,” Wiles said.

“The St Matthew’s tour provides Concordia’s students with an opportunity to experience an international sporting tour on home soil.”

He said that the program would continue to go ahead in 2020, with Concordia looking to introduce another sporting team into the mix.

“Concordia is introducing Rugby Sevens to our sporting program, and we are looking forward to playing St Matthew’s in this sport when they come to visit again in 2020,” he said.

“We are very fortunate to have developed this friendship with St Matthew’s and look forward to seeing how it develops in the future.”
