Vet reaches amazing milestone
A HIGHFIELDS vet has reached an amazing milestone, celebrating four decades in the industry.
In 1979 Dr Larry Jocumsen purchased part of his family farm in Kuhls Rd to establish Highfields Veterinary Surgery.
When he set it up, there was only himself and one nurse.
Forty years later, the practice now has four vets and five support staff.
“We have had the privilege of growing with the Highfields community and are thankful for the local community and their support,” he said.
In any given week, Dr Larry and fellow vets, Amanda Siddens, Jake Lin and Louis Gilshenan, deal with anything from general health checks to orthopaedic procedures.
With access to specialist veterinary care, the Highfields Veterinary Surgery is able to ensure your furry, feathered or scaled friend receives expert treatment.
The vets pride themselves on providing an after-hours service, and are committed to Belle Vie Animal Rescue where they provide discounted services that help with microchipping, general health checks and re-homing.
Next month, pet owners are invited to celebrate Dr Larry with a family-fun day.
There will be a pet parade with prizes for best dressed, best behaved, and most adorable.
Dr Larry said he’d love as many people as possible to join in the celebrations.
“A jumping castle, sausage sizzle, music and face painting will make this a wonderful family celebration for everyone,” he said.
“A gold coin donation towards Belle Vie is encouraged and we look forward to seeing you all there.”
