Belt out ’80s classics
Carnival Choir announces iconic tunes ahead of Festival of Food and Wine
JIMMY Barnes and Bon Jovi fans – this is your moment to unite in harmony on the Heritage Bank Festival of Food and Wine stage.
The festival has announced Working Class Man and Livin’ on a Prayer will be the two tunes the first-ever Carnival Choir will belt out to thousands of music fans.
And if you’d like to sing your heart out to these ’80s classics as part of a huge roster of performers, there’s still time to sign up and no experience is necessary.
The choir will be led by Toowoomba musician and entertainer Ruby Slipperz, and will perform after brass-fuelled funk bank Cheap Fakes and before iconic Australian group Dragon.
Music legend John Farnham will cap off the final day in front of an expected capacity crowd.
The Carnival Choir is one highlight in the jam-packed Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers schedule – a 10-day celebration that kicks off on Friday, September 20.
Councillor Geoff McDonald said the opening day, also known as Floral Friday, would include the launch of the food and wine festival, the opening of private gardens in The Chronicle Garden Competition, and the start of entertainment and tour programs across the Garden City’s public parks and spaces.
“What makes Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers so special is that there is so much to experience,” Cr McDonald said.
The Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers runs from September 20-29.
The Chronicle Garden Competition Visitor Guide, which includes the garden maps, will be issued in The Chronicle newspaper on Friday, September 20 and online at thechronicle.com.au.
