Tradition keeps 99 year old looking stylish

-

EVERY year for 36 years, a true Aussie battler has stayed true to her salon tradition.

On September 6, on her 99th birthday, lively great-grandmother Agg Hill could be found in the same place she’s been every year since 1984: getting the star treatment at Intershape Hair Design.

Even with the relocation of Intershape to Clifford Garden’s recently, Agg has never broken the annual tradition.

The result is a wonderful friendship between her and store manager Yvonne BouSamra.

“I’m happy to help Agg look and feel great on a special day like this,” she said.

Born into a dairy farming family, which gave her a deep love of the land, Agg is a treasure trove of life stories that she happily shares with Yvonne and manager Diana Myburgh.

The self-confessed “mad” Broncos fan says she’s seen her share of highs and lows while living the farm life, including fire, drought and flood all within the space of a few years.

The Intershape staff have lent a listening ear while Agg traversed the loss of her ‘sweet’ husband Jimmy in 1994 – who used to wave at her on the way to school when she was a teen – through to the births of her delightful grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who are spread across Perth, Brisbane and Toowoomba.

Laughing, Agg says she also has a 20-year-long friendship with her ‘hairdresser friend’ Beris, who books in at Intershape every week.

When asked the secret to great skin and a good marriage, the nonagenarian says it’s all about “only using soap and water” and “lots of give and take”.
