There are many things that signify spring in nature. The change of weather brings a burst of new blooms and new scents. But once you get into your house and close those doors, the changes have to be made by you to invite spring inside.

I have come up with a few items I think will put an extra shot of excitement in your interior to celebrate the arrival of spring.

Bright colours are a quick and easy way to put colour into your home. Swap a few of the wintry-looking cushions on your sofas and chairs with spring colours such as mauve, light blue and bright white – these will add

crispness to your colour scheme.

For an elegant addition for spring, splash out on a porcelain vase or bowl. Spring is all about the sound of birds calling so you could try to find ones that have bird motifs.

By selecting porcelain, if you put a tea light in them they give the most gorgeous glow. You can even put scented tea lights for that extra touch.

These are perfect as stand-alone pieces or in a group. You also don’t have to get too many pieces at once. Take your time and build the collection as it will have more meaning.

One of my favourite things about spring is the colour in the flowers. A bunch of buds in a vase can look nice in your home but doing something different with your flowers will mean they become more like a sculpture and give more impact.

Buy potted bulbs and take them out of the pot. Put them in glass vases with the roots showing and add a little moss on the top. Hyacinths are perfect for this as they have long roots and give off the most divine fragrance.

Thanks to the boom in scented candles and oil burners, scents for spring don’t only have to come in the form of flowers. If you splash out and invest in some expensive ones they hold their fragrance and even smell gorgeous when they’re not lit. Look for fragrances like fig, gardenia, freesia and tuberose to give that heady spring smell all through the season.
