Bogey Man maintains Hatch stable’s top form

RACING: In-form gelding Bogey Man continued the Lindsay Hatch stable’s successful start to the new Toowoomba racing season when he delivered for favourite punters at Clifford Park on Saturday night.

Bogey Man ($2.60) completed back-to-back home-track wins with a strong-finishing performanc­e in the Toowoomba Plastics Roses Prelude 2 Benchmark 75 Handicap (1200m).

The six-year-old stormed home from last on straighten­ing for Josh Oliver to score by a length.

Resuming Givus A Cuddle ($15) was doing it’s best work on the line for second with Love And Lies ($11) finishing a half length away third.

The victory was Hatch’s sixth home win for the season with Bogey Man’s effort a replica of his effort in the Roses Prelude 1 Benchmark 75 (1110m) two weeks earlier.

It also handed Oliver the second leg of a winning double on the seven-race card after he earlier teamed with trainer Mark Currie to score on Molly’s Rocking ($5.50) in the BBC Queensland Class 3 Plate (1000m).

Non-claiming apprentice Zoe White shared the night’s riding honours with Oliver after winning on Victory Toast ($11) and Lilli Lights Out

($4.20).

Lilli Lights Out made a winning race debut for Toowoomba trainer Steve Kirkwood after getting the better of resuming $2.80 favourite American Crown over the final 100 metres of the Mark McKillip College Maiden Plate (870m) to score by a half length.

■ TALENTED Toowoomba three-year-old Gem Of Scotland ($2.40 fav) took her career record to five wins from seven starts when she returned to racing with a first-up victory for trainer Rex Lipp in Saturday’s Three-Year-Old Handicap (1110) at Doomben.
