Police seize $32,000 in drug money

POLICE charged five individual­s with a string of offences after raids in Miles last week.

A total of seven search warrants were executed across Miles and surroundin­g areas on September 11-12.

In total, these seven warrants resulted in five offenders being charged with a total of 13 offences.

The offences range from drug possession, including 19.6 grams of methamphet­amine, 50 grams of cannabis, unlawful possession of weapons, including a firearm, butterfly knife and knuckle duster, unlawful possession of drug utensils and possession of explosives (ammunition).

During the search warrants $32,090 was seized

A 52-year-old Miles man was charged with possession of dangerous drugs, possession of property suspected (Australian currency), unlawful possession of weapons, unlawful possession of restrict drug (Viagra) and drug utensil.

A 40-year-old Miles man was charged with possession of drug utensils. A 40-year-old Miles woman was charged with possession of drug utensils. A 33-year-old Miles man was charged with possession of dangerous drug and drug utensil. A 20-year-old Miles woman was charged with possession of dangerous drugs.

Detective Inspector Mat Kelly said these types of operations were aimed at reducing harm posed by illicit drugs within rural areas.

“These operations, supported by local intelligen­ce and valuable informatio­n from across the community, will continue to be executed across the South West District,” he said.

“By disrupting criminal behaviour in this way, we aim to deter future offending.”
