TJRL FINALS WRAP UP

RUGBY LEAGUE: The curtain came down on the 2019 Toowoomba Junior Rugby League season in style at the weekend.

In a show of the talent spread across the board, the seven titles were distribute­d among six different clubs.

Highfields (U14s) and Gatton (U17s) etched their place in history as the first TJRL girls premiers.

Southern Suburbs took out the U16s decider with a 26-22 victory over Highfields.

The Tigers scored three tries in less than nine minutes to claim the last-ditch win over the Eagles to cap off a thrilling day of rugby league at Clive Berghofer Stadium.

HOCKEY FINALS STRIKE A CHORD

HOCKEY: The junior finals of the Toowoomba Hockey Associatio­n were played out at Clyde Park at the weekend.

Red Lion continued its dominance of the J1 boys competitio­n, winning its fourth-straight title, while Past High upset Rangeville in the J1 girls decider.

U11 girls: Norths 3 (Mia Auld, Arwen Douglas, Stella Suey) defeated Past High 0

U11 boys: Red Lion 4 (Hayden Macready, Logan Macready, Harry Pember, Aiden Walker defeated Past High 2 (Alex Maddison 2)

U13s girls: Norths 4 (Caleiah Budd, Jane Butler, Emily Lammas) defeated Past High 0
