Best of Sport under way
Look out for chance to nominate and vote
SPORT is a massive part of Toowoomba’s identity.
Nearly every weekend our sporting fields are full of keen young athletes and we have produced countless state, national and international sporting stars.
Now The Chronicle wants to shine a spotlight on the best of the best.
Our Best of Sport is not all about winning records, medals and premierships.
We’re looking for the most dedicated and passionate individual athletes, coaches, volunteers and teams.
Each Sunday night we will put a question to our Facebook followers, for example:
We’re on the hunt for Toowoomba’s best junior rugby league player. Nominate your favourite player and they’ll go in the running to win Best of Sport.
Readers are encouraged to nominate their favourite contender and react to comments as a way of supporting that nomination.
Nominations must include the full name of the nominee and a brief reason as to why they were nominated.
The Chronicle will tally up the nominations on Monday morning, with nominations closing at 9am.
A journalist will then compile a premium article with the list of 10 nominees, and create a poll which people can vote in.
A list of the nominees will run in the newspaper on Tuesday, directing people online to vote.
Voting will close each Wednesday at midnight, with the votes tallied and the winner announced on Thursday.
A story on the winner will appear in the newspaper, our website and Facebook page.
GET INVOLVED: Our new Best of Sport season timeline gets under way this Sunday. Keep your eye on The Chronicle’s Facebook page for the next nomination post.
