CHEERS TO OKTOBERFEST CELEBRATIONS
IT’S important to keep up the fluids during this sudden heatwave that has hit Toowoomba and that’s exactly what the crowd at The Bavarian in Grand Central was doing.
The Bavarian is celebrating Oktoberfest this month with plenty of German beers, food and entertainment.
An oompah band had the crowd tapping its collective toes and hoisting steins of beer along to the music during the weekend sessions.
Mark O’Connell’s table was enjoying Lowenbrau which proved a popular beer among many in the crowd who enjoyed a range of lagers which all seemed to be rated highly.
“I’ve never had a bad beer,” was how Mr O’Connell put it.
Jordan Bartholomew and Charley Knowles from Leeds in Northern England were enjoying a working holiday in Australia and have been in Toowoomba for three months.
“It’s a nice place... very different from the Gold Coast where we were living before,” Mr Bartholomew said.
For Irish native Jerry O’Sullivan, Toowoomba is home.
Mr O’Sullivan has been in Australia for 13 years, the last eight of those in the Garden City.
“I’ve travelled around the country a lot and I’ve found the best place to live,” he said while sipping on a stein of German ale.
Portuguese South African Michelle Fernandes has been visiting friends in Toowoomba and took the opportunity of enjoying a bit of Europe at Oktoberfest.
The Bavarian’s Oktoberfest celebrations will continue throughout the rest of October with different games, themes and entertainment each day.
