Have your say on recreation plan

-

RESIDENTS can have their say on how the council will support sport, active recreation, and healthy living within the Toowoomba region.

Toowoomba Regional Council has released the draft plan of the new new Sport, Active Recreation and Healthy Living Plan, and the community is invited to comment.

TRC Environment and Community portfolio leader Cr Joe Ramia said the plan would outline the region’s vision, goals and actions focused on sport, active recreation and healthy living from 2019 to 2026.

“It will help create healthier, more active communities by encouraging more people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities to be active, eat well and live well,” he said.

“More than 1000 community members including representatives from sports clubs, nature-based recreation organisations and walk and cycle groups helped shape the draft plan through completing surveys and attending workshops during the past twelve months.”

Cr Ramia said the council is now inviting community feedback on the draft plan.

“The community can have their say on the draft plan until Friday, October 25,” Cr Ramia said.

People can share their thoughts and ideas by completing an online survey at the council’s Your Say website at yoursay.tr.qld.gov.au/sarhl.

Hard copy surveys are also available at customer service centres.

Community feedback will be used to guide the development of the final plan presented to Council for endorsement from late 2019.

The State Government provided $60,000 to the council to develop the plan.
