Improve fitness and support cancer patients

-

SIGN up to The Fit Lab this month and you won’t also start improving your fitness — you’ll also help a Toowoomba Hospital Foundation prostate cancer patient.

The gym has partnered with the foundation to encourage men diagnosed with prostate cancer to get back into the gym and make exercise a key part of their treatment journey.

It means $6 a week from an annual membership will be donated to the organisation, with these funds directly sponsoring patients going through the exercise for the management of prostate cancer program.

Toowoomba Hospital Foundation CEO Alison Kennedy said it was wonderful to see the business community putting their support behind patients of the Toowoomba Hospital.

“Prostate cancer is the most commonly-diagnosed cancer in men and it’s something that we’ve been wanting to bring more awareness to and help those being treated through Darling Downs Health,” she said.

The Fit Lab exercise physiologist Nicola Carlish said it was exciting to partner with the foundation to help both the community and patients achieve their fitness goals.

“Exercise is such an important part of our lives, whether it becomes a rewarding a hobby or a stepping stone towards enjoying other parts of your life — you can’t deny it’s importance in health and wellbeing,” she said.

To join The Fit Lab and help sponsor a Toowoomba Hospital prostate cancer patient phone The Fit Lab on 4638 7645 or drop by the gym at 231 James St, Toowoomba.
