A MAN charged with the alleged armed robbery of a Toowoomba pharmacy remains in custody.

Police claim Kyle Joseph Harrett walked into the Moreton and Coote Pharmacy on Margaret St east about 5.45pm last Wednesday with his face covered and asking for medication.

Though having his face covered, the accused had appeared calm and composed.

However, police claim he then produced a large knife which he allegedly pointed at staff and demanded prescription drugs.

The 32-year-old is accused of fleeing the pharmacy with Xanax and other prescription medication.

No-one was physically injured in the incident.

He was held in custody over the weekend while a mental health assessment of him was done and was due to appear in Toowoomba Magistrates Court yesterday.

However, his solicitor Michael Corbin told the court he would not be applying for bail at this point and asked that the matter be put over to Tuesday.

The 32-year-old has been charged with eight charges including entering a premises with intent, having his face disguised with intent to commit an indictable offence, robbery with actual violence while armed and using personal violence, two counts of possessing dangerous drugs, and one each of stealing and common assault.

He has not been required to enter pleas to the charges and no specifics of the allegations have been aired in court.

The court heard an application for bail was like to be put before the court today.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Natalie Bugden said police would be objecting to the accused’s bail application.

There being no application for bail at this stage, Magistrate Kay Ryan remanded Harrett in custody and adjourned all matters for mention back in the same court today.
