Slower pace of festive season a good opportunity to lend a hand

- LOUISE VENZ

TOOWOOMBA Chamber hosted their final Business at Dusk networking event for 2019 on Wednesday last week with Platinum Chamber Sponsor Heritage Bank.

This event gave attendees the chance to hear from Heritage Bank chief customer officer Kevin Potter on how

Heritage has grown in the last 12 months including reaching the milestone of $10 billion in total consolidated assets, the expansion into two Sydney branches, raising over $75,000 at the 2019 Charity Golf Day and $2.5 million contributed seed funding to the Heritage Bank Charitable Foundation.

This has been a huge year yet again for our local bank and it’s a great reminder for businesses and individuals to contribute where they can to those in need in the Toowoomba region.

Heritage has also continued their support in 2019 of the Loads of Love Appeal – which in its 10th year is already incredibly close to reaching their 15,000kg target.

Through large-scale community support and corporate sponsorship, the appeal has collected and distributed more than $360,000 of food to more than 3000 households across southern Queensland.

Each year we see more local businesses support this great cause, through gathering donations from their employees and clients to donate to those in need over the Christmas period.

Loads of Love also garners sponsorship from many

Chamber members including Harvey Norman, Robertson Scannell, Grand Central and many others.

Donations for the appeal close on December 22 but there are many other great initiatives for businesses to support in our region.

If your business is slowing down in the lead up to the holidays, it’s a great opportunity to encourage your team to donate to the Australian Red Cross Lifeblood.

With only 1 in 30 people donating for our region, when 1 of 3 is needed – there is a massive call for individuals to donate if they can.

Take your team, grab morning tea and give back to your community.
